Taking action starts with that one first step to get the momentum going. When you continue taking these steps every day, that’s when things really start to change!
In this post we will go through some of the strategies and techniques to make that happen for you. Life comes down to a few life-defining moments and you and only you can make this very moment be one of those moments which will change your life forever!
First let’s start with an inspirational teaser…
I will be the first one to admit it, I have fears too… I am aware and I am constantly forcing myself to face my fears! By always trying to face our fears, we will eventually eliminate them, one by one and step by step. After having “practiced” this fear facing routine long enough, guess what, it’s just another habit! The little voice in my head might try and tell me something but do I listen? NO! I am just taking action anyway and when you do this often enough, you start to imprint into your subconscious that YOU are the boss, not the little voice in your head!
You might feel that it will be a challenge to reach your goals, you might even have fears but by taking action and facing them, you will make progress and grow as a person. I want you to think of something you used to be afraid of (like giving a presentation) and now you are not. Remind yourself of how bad it used to feel before and how great it feels now when it is just another habit! Every time those thoughts of fear arise (until we have “erased” them), think about the great feelings you have because of the things you have overcome in your life! I would recommend you you to think of one or two, write them down and when ever you have fear, go back and think about these episodes of your life and how good you now feel once you are the boss!
Stick with that feeling and let’s move to the other side of fear because that’s where your new life begins!
You are doing great!
Together we have already covered the first two sections on where you really want to be in life (if you have missed out on any of those steps, just click here)! Take a moment and just be proud of what you have already accomplished, just suck it in, great work! By just having taken the time to properly sit down, reflect and figured out what it is that you want, you have come further than most. I would say you are already qualifying amongst the top 10% as more than 90% of the population don’t even have any goals!!
Let’s quickly sum up what you have already done so that we can get down to taking action and actually start making your goals and dreams happen for you!
- You have reflected on your life and written down your reflections on the profound quotes in my e-book: “Where am I heading”
- You have created your very own Vision Board – you know what you want!
- You have used our Goal Setting Template to become clear about what your goals in life are in each of those areas
- You have written down WHY you MUST reach those goals of yours (Burning Desire)
- You have written down HOW you are going to reach those goals
- You have refined your goals according to the SMARTER technique for even faster results
- You know the importance of Autosuggestion and are using it to your advantage
- You know the Habits of the Highly Successful and have implemented them into your life
- You know the importance of Creating a Winning Mindset and are working to improve it on a daily basis
WOW! All of that is already done!! I hope you have celebrated, if not you should schedule something nice for yourself and bring a friend (but do it after we are done here:))!
Now let’s get you into action mode
Start by reading and implementing these posts for both inspiration and motivation!
Before you move on…. make sure you listen to at least two clips on YouTube for motivation as recommended in the Motivational Tools post!
I can feel you are even more eager to get going now to start create your new life! So let’s move on!
Fine tuning your playing field
For all of your goals in your Goal Setting Sheet, make sure you have a clear enough WHY you MUST reach that specific goal. It has to be meaningful to you and ideally your goals should be somewhat like an obsession as then you won’t let anything get in your way!
To make sure this is the case for you, follow these steps:
- Go back to your Goal Setting Sheet and make sure you are absolutely clear about your goals.
- Make sure you have also written down your reasons as to WHY you MUST reach those goals. It should be so strong and so meaningful to you, it will make sure you never ever quit! It can be anything you want so make sure it’s a powerful one. For example it could be: a better future for your kids, safety for your family, better health, financial security for your family etc. It doesn’t matter what it is as long as it really matters to you!
- Make sure your Vision Board and your pictures there are clearly aligned with your goals so that they create the right visions and emotions (extremely important) for you every time you look at them.
Perfect! Now you have created a solid foundation and are ready for some action!
Anytime you feel a bit less motivated, use your gratitude journal on a daily basis and just look at all the great things that have already happened in your life! Also look at your vision board and/or your Goal Setting Sheet to remind yourself of WHY you MUST keep moving forward! I can’t do it for you but if you follow the steps in this process and start taking action by using the suggested tools and techniques, things will start to happen for you. As we now start gaining momentum it will all get easier and easier and you will reach more and more of your goals.
You just have to take one step at the time and you will make it happen and I know you can do it!
Laser focus is very powerful and important when taking action as nothing will get in your way when you are in that state of mind. You are unstoppable! We have all been in those situations and we can all get into that state of mind. We just have to be committed enough and have a clear mental (or physical) picture in mind of what will happen if we do, or if we don’t. I recommend you use that mental image which motivates you the most when you truly need it.
Decide TODAY, right now which one of your goals is the most important for you to reach and then we will apply the strategy on that specific goal (YES, now)! If you are up for it, you can go for several goals at the same time to gain even more momentum and personally I love massive action! But if you want us to take it step by step, just pick that one extremely important goal you just must reach.
I would really encourage you to also incorporate your health goals at the same time as exercising makes wonders to us (read this post on Start Gaining Momentum). Exercise is great for both your body and mind and helps you in so many ways and will for sure help you gaining more momentum even faster!
When you are clear about which goal(s) to focus on, you are ready for the next step. Go back to your Goal Setting Sheet and fill in the individual pages stating what actions you need to take in order to reach those goals in the specified period of time. Make sure that when doing this step, you are super clear about the outcome you want. When you have completed this, you know what to do in order to move closer towards your meaningful goal.
To make sure we break that goal down in easy steps, you should also have filled in the specific steps you will take this month (if you didn’t do that already, go back to your goal setting sheet and do it). At this point it doesn’t have to be daily steps but you should write down the most important steps you need to take during this week. Make sure they feel achievable to you, though I want you to stretch yourself as that is how we grow! We also want to get early and fast progress so that we can feel and see our increased momentum.
It is going to be a continuous journey and I want you to enjoy all of it so make sure to notice your progress as you are taking action and moving forward! Celebrating small victories is a great reminder of the progress we are making so make sure you make that a habit of yours!
Making it happen!
You now know what you need to get done this month in order to reach your monthly goal and it is super important that you take the first step TODAY! As long as we are taking action it doesn’t really matter how big or small it is, this is to make sure we get the ball rolling! Remember that all the steps you take, big and small, combined will make you reach your goals!
To make sure you have the momentum and know what to do, I have created a simple Daily Focus Routine which will help you stay on target, always knowing what your most important steps of the day are. Read my post on this topic: How To Be In Full Control – Daily Focus as it will explain how and why you should use it to structure your day (personally I write my things down using sticky notes). It is very straight-forward so just implement it and start taking control of your day. It will improve your life significantly as you will not start your day in a reactive mode, you will now be the boss over your day!
By using this technique consistently, you know what actions you need to take every day to make sure you are on target and making constant progress towards your goals. Clarity and control is extremely important and all successful people make sure they know what their priorities are and so should you!
You set your agenda for the day to make sure you are in control over your day and not just being reactive to what other people want you to do for them.
Just follow the instructions in the post and make sure you start using this structure today! I can guarantee that if you do this consistently for a week and then look back at what you have accomplished and how you have felt about it, you will feel both proud and amazed! I will be very surprised if you have not accomplished much more than you normally would whilst feeling in total control (which leads to less stress and anxiety)!
As you make progress, remember to update your Goal Setting Sheet and always use the SMARTER technique we went through and make sure you continuously evaluate and review! If you use this tool daily and create a habit out of it, your life will change according to your goals, it will be a dream (or several) come true!
To keep you going and motivated at all times I would recommend you to always:
- Have your Vision Board at hand and “go there” often!
- Listen to motivational speakers (this way of autosuggestion is great and so powerful!)
- Listen to motivational music of your choice
- Create a photo book of personal photos for inspiration and motivation
These are all small things but with massive impact and they are always available so make sure to use them as often as you can! Personally I love when I can listen to my favorite mentors without scheduling time for it, I just use my No Extra Time (NET). Check out that post as it will for sure help you become more knowledgeable and unstoppable!
To make sure your day ALWAYS gets off to a flying start, I would also recommend that you have some great Daily Morning Routines in place. Great habits and discipline are extremely important in making sure you start your day in a prime state! These routines are instrumental to my success and I can do them in five minutes or two hours depending on where I am and what my schedule looks like. Make sure you create your own!
Your future is in your hands, you call the shots and you are the only one who can create change so if you want your life to change…….. Start taking action today!
